Levelized Billing

Stay in Control of your monthly bills.

If your use of electricity varies a great deal from month to month or from season to season, your electric bill will also vary a great deal. If this puts a strain on your household budget, or if you would prefer to pay approximately the same every month, you may want to sign up for Levelized Billing.

With Levelized Billing, the amount of your bill will be based on the average amount actually owed during the most recent twelve months, plus one-twelfth of the balance owed or credited. In other words, the amount you pay will be an average of your past twelve month's actual bills.

This means you will not pay the exact same amount every month, but it will be close to the same. Some months the amount you actually owe will be more than the average, some months it will be less. By the end of the year, you will have paid what you actually owe, but some months you will have paid more, and some months you will have paid less.

Current taxes, security light charges, and any special or one time charges will be billed for the full amount in addition to the energy charge that is based on the average kilowatt consumption.

The member can withdraw from the budget-billing plan at any time. However, if a member withdraws from the plan more than 1 time in 12 months, the Cooperative will charge a processing fee of $4.00.

When a member withdraws from the plan or terminates service, the member has the option of paying the account balance in full, or, if qualified, under a delayed payment agreement, or, refunded any net overpayment by billing credit or check.

If a member becomes delinquent, the Cooperative will remove the member from the plan, and if the member qualifies, offer the member a delayed payment agreement.

Levelized Billing Requirements

• Must be paid by the due date
• At least 12 months of billing history

UPDATED RATE SCHEDULE CHANGES - EFFECTIVE APRIL BILLING 2024

These rate changes will impact members in different ways, depending on their lifestyle and situation. The largest impact to a typical residential account will be in the service availability charge. For example, a typical bill for a residential member with one meter using 1,000 kWh a month would go from $123.94 to 128.76. The service availability charge helps cover fixed costs, such as meters, transformers, and lines necessary to provide electricity to a service regardless of its usage. It is often referred to as a minimum bill.
